Start with Your Existing Deck

ProDecks offers deck inspection and maintenance in New Castle County and its listed surrounding service areas. Tell us whether you need routine care, have noticed a specific problem or are considering new surface boards. Discuss the visit and proposed work before booking so the scope matches your needs.

Concerns to Discuss with the Team

Photos and a history of the deck help identify questions for a site visit. The condition of visible surfaces does not establish the condition of concealed framing or connections.

  • Loose, damaged or deteriorated deck boards.
  • Movement in railings, posts or stairs.
  • Separation at the house connection or visible damaged framing.
  • Drainage, debris buildup and recurring damp areas.
  • Previous repairs, the approximate age and the decking product if known.

Agree on Maintenance Work

Cleaning, coating and replacement decisions depend on the material and its condition. Ask which care tasks are appropriate, which are included in the quote and whether any damage needs further investigation first. Follow the selected product’s care instructions for cleaners, washing pressure, coatings and ice-removal products. Composite decking still requires care.

Inspection, Resurfacing or a Rebuild?

A maintenance visit should not be treated as approval to reuse an existing frame. New boards can change fastening, support and stair details, and hidden deterioration may require further investigation. Discuss repair limits and any need for design or specialist review before agreeing to a surface replacement. ProDecks also builds new composite and wood decks when a broader scope is appropriate.

Prepare for an Estimate

Send the property address, approximate deck dimensions, photos and the concerns you want addressed. Include access restrictions and past repair information. Ask the proposal to identify the visit or work included, exclusions, pricing, approval responsibilities and how unexpected damage will be handled. Inspection and maintenance scope is agreed for the individual job; an engineering report or safety certification is not implied.

Questions Before You Book

Is a deck inspection the same as an engineer’s report?

No. Do not assume a general deck service includes engineering, a certified inspection report or a safety certification. Explain the purpose of your request and confirm the required professional and deliverables before booking.

Can I keep my frame and replace the boards?

That depends on the existing structure, connections, intended material and design. A decision to reuse framing needs assessment; the appearance of the old boards alone is not enough.

Is the inspection free?

Ask ProDecks to confirm the scope and any charge for the requested visit. A general free project estimate does not establish the price of a specialist inspection or maintenance work.

Where can I find seasonal care guidance?

Our deck maintenance guide covers care questions to discuss for each season. Use the care instructions for your specific product before selecting a cleaner, coating or treatment.
